Our Story
I came up with the idea for Darkroom in college in 2019. I was majoring in post-production editing and I wanted to do something for the greater good of filmmaking. My original idea for Darkroom was a VFX (visual effects) company to do CGI and other motion graphics. Why the name Darkroom? Well, it just sounds cool! On top of that I love old film and TV so it's a calling back to the roots of when they had dark rooms which were used to develop film and photos. We really have it lucky with today's tech.
As Covid-19 hit the world, I was no longer able to pursue my college dream in Colorado and I moved here to Rapid City. I grew up around the area and I loved it here. The Black Hills and all this historic land is why I stay even if the winters aren't that great (I hate the cold!).
I then took a job at one of the news stations here in the area and I ended up falling in love with more than just video editing. I became a camera nerd and learned so much about the whole world of video creation. I once again had that creative spark to start a new adventure.
Enter October of 2023. I started Darkroom Media LLC with my amazing wife, Brooklyn. We can't wait to work with you and make the coolest things possible. Thank you so much for stopping by and checking us out - it truly means a lot.
